ART DRIVE THRU

Art Basel | 2013

The “colette art DRIVE-THRU at alchemist,” inspired by a retro midcentury drive-thru, was installed in the Carpark adjacent to Alchemist on Level 5 of 1111 Lincoln Road. The installation was designed by Rene Gonzalez Architect, architect for all three of Alchemist’s stores. Visitors to the experience were able to drive up to the “colette art DRIVE-THRU at alchemist” window, order from a virtual menu of specially curated items, continue around the drive-thru and wait for a “carhop” (girls on roller skates) to bring out the order. But rather than malts, burgers, and fries, shoppers were able to access a number of exclusive items curated for the pop-up. Participants included some of the most compelling names in art, fashion, and culture working today, such as Kehinde Wiley, KAWS, Zaha Hadid, Daniel Arsham, Tom Sachs, Pharrell x Moncler, Kenzo x Toilet Paper, Kitsuné, Chrome Hearts and Luis Morais as well as specially co-branded drive-thru items designed by Yorgo & Co.
